Purpose:
  • To re-engage students who have left high school, or are in risk of leaving high school, into a supportive environment
  • To help these students complete their high school education
  • To help facilitate the exploration of, and transition to, “next steps”
Program Highlights:
  • 4+ credit program
  • 1 credit of GLN 4O: Navigating the Workplace
  • Dual Credit Program (1 high school credit & 1 Mohawk College credit)
  • 1 credit of TSQ 4T: Introduction to Residential Construction - or
  • 1 credit of TWM 4T: Woodworking Materials
  • 1 college credit in Framing Techniques (BLDGRE028)
  • 1 credit of TMJ 3C: Rotation includes Manufacturing, Transportation, Construction (HVAC, Carpentry, Electrical)
  • 1 or more credits – Credit Recovery, ILC courses, blended learning/eLearning
  • Continuous intake throughout the year
  • Mohawk College partnership: earn a high school and college credit at the same time!
  • Volunteer Halton partnership: volunteer opportunities within the community
  • Goodwill Career Centre partnership: career workshops to prepare for the future
Student Profile:
  • Grade 11 - 12+
  • 22+ credits
  • Students who would benefit from an alternative learning environment
  • Students interested in gaining/developing tech-based skills (all skill levels welcome!)

  • 10:00am - 11:00am GLN 4O- Navigating the Workplace
  • 11:00am - 12:00pm Tech Rotation- TMJ 3C / TSC 4T / Dual Credit
  • 12:00pm - 1:00pm  RCR / ILC Credit Recovery / Independent Learning

  • This workshop focuses on building self-awareness, self-esteem, and effective communication strategies. It increases self-knowledge through a facilitated self-discovery model that will make a lasting positive impact!
  • Unique You Two hundred applicants for your next job! How do you stand out from your competition? What makes YOU different and special? Learn how to stand out from the crowd and set yourself apart from your competitors.
  • Explore opportunities This workshop will help you identify and focus on your unique strengths, minimize your weaknesses and take advantage of opportunities. It will show you how to sell yourself to others.
  • Resumes Have you sent your resume out to a lot of employers but have not received interviews? We can assist you. We will examine different styles of resumes and you will leave with a rough draft.
  • Cover Letters Once your resume is prepared and you’ve established which jobs you would like to apply for, a cover letter will increase your chances of being considered for an interview! Join us to learn how to develop a cover letter and alter it for every job you apply for; to make you a prime candidate!
  • Interview Skills Can’t seem to get beyond the interview to land the job? We will explore various questioning styles as well as the importance of presentation. Learn and practice the various styles of interviews and how to ace them. We will put your new skills to work for you! In this interactive workshop, you will be role-playing interview situations. Please come prepared to participate.
  • Mock Interviews Have a job interview coming up? Need job specific interview practice? We can help! Come in with a job ad/position you are interested in and learn how to answer common interview questions with feedback and guidance. Practice makes perfect!
