What is eLearning (Online Learning)?
Students interact and learn with their teacher, classmates and electronic resources using any Internet-connected computer. eLearning provides opportunities for Halton students to:
- earn the same high-school credits in a different way;
- learn at a flexible time (no scheduled classes), place and pace (within semester timelines);
- access engaging, unique programs unavailable in most high schools;
- interact with like-minded students from across Halton;
- flex timetables and accelerate learning.
Which courses are available online for 2009-10?
High school day students may select online courses on their option sheets. See the appropriate subject section of your program book for details on each course (listed below). The sixth
character 'O' designates 'ONLINE'.

Are there any special requirements to take an online course?
1) Not all students are suited to learning online--self-score yourself on the quiz below to
determine suitability.
2) Online courses may be taken as a 9th credit only if a 9th credit has not been taken in
previous years.
3) Online courses require as much time as face-to-face classes to complete (e.g., 7-12
hours per week based on a typical face-to-face class of 75 minutes per day plus homework).
How do I know if I am suited for online learning?
A score of 24+ indicates outstanding potential for learning online, 18-23 indicates good to excellent potential, 12-17 indicates online learning may be challenging (having a strong personal interest in the subject or need for the credit will help ensure success) while online learning is not recommended for scores of 11 or lower.
