 What is the International Baccalaureate? The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program is a prestigious pre-university diploma program that provides a challenging curriculum to highly motivated students. The IB program provides a comprehensive curriculum that is recognized by many universities worldwide. Some universities offer first year course credits for some IB courses. IB graduates are well-rounded citizens with a broad international perspective. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program is completed in the last two years of high school (Grade 11 and 12). Graduates obtain an IB diploma and an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. The IB program requires students to complete subjects in six different areas, called “Groups”. The 6 groups are: Group 1: Language A1 – First language Group 2: Language B - Second language Group 3: Individual and Societies Group 4: Experimental Sciences Group 5: Mathematics and Computer Sciences Group 6: The Arts and Electives Students interested in enrolling in the IB program should have a solid academic background, good work skills and strong motivation. Please note that program fees apply. Students who take the IB program obtain a diploma that is recognized by universities internationally. Some universities offer first year course credits for completion of Higher Level courses within the Diploma program. The program is currently offered at Robert Bateman High School, White Oaks Secondary School and Georgetown District High School.
